Richards was voted one of the five Cricketers of the Century in 2000, by a
100-member panel of experts, along with Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Garfield Sobers,
Sir Jack Hobbs and Shane Warne. In February 2002, he was judged by Wisden to
have played the best One Day International (ODI) innings of all time. In
December 2002, he was chosen by Wisden as the greatest ODI batsman of all time,
as well as the third greatest Test batsman of all time, after Sir Don Bradman

ANZACS AT WAR -

In
1903 the Perth Rifle Volunteers were renamed the 11th
Australian Infantry Regiment. At this stage the only
permanent soldiers in Australia were Engineers, Coastal
Defence Gunners and a handful of Staff Officers. On the
outbreak of WWI, Australia had a militia of about 100 000
people. The Defence Act 1903 stipulated that the Australian
Militia Forces were only to be employed in the Defence of
Australia. Hence the Australian Imperial Forces (AIF) was
raised for service overseas.

NAB National Draft, going on to make his AFL debut in Round
1 2006 being rewarded with a Round 1 Rising star nomination
and winning Carlton’s best first year player. Murphy has

and come second in the club best & fairest award to Chris
Judd in 2008.

Since
Troy announced his retirement from World SBK racing earlier
in the season, the pressure had been on the Australian to
win back the championship that he so gallantly held in 2001
and 2006. Coming ever so close in 2007, Troy was confident
that he was still at the top of his game and that he could
win another World SBK title and retire on top of the World.
Racing with the XEROX Ducati team on board the new 1098
Ducati. Troy’s consistent performances throughout the season
have seen him deservedly crowned the 2008 World SBK
Champion.

total of 552 games, a record by a father and son in VFL/AFL

John’s in Antigua, West Indian cricketer Brian Lara
passed the previous World Individual Test Record for runs
in an Innings, held at 380 by Australian, Matthew Hayden,

The Trinidadian left-hander faced 582 deliveries, hitting
43 fours and four sixes, setting a new mark just over two
